How to Strengthen Your Immune System While You Shower

Use Lye-Free Soap!

Traditional Soaps are made with lye, a very alkaline substance.  Our skin must have an acidic environment in order for our natural immune defense to survive. When we use lye soap, our immune defense gets washed away and has to be rebuilt.  Furthermore, lye is somewhat toxic to our bodies.

You can use soap with lye to wash your hands, bottom, groin area and armpits but you shouldn’t cover yourself head to toe in it.  I suggest using lye-free soap for the other areas!

Lye-free soaps can be found at health food stores in the beauty section and also online!

Pour Me A Glass of Coconut Water!

When was the last time you sipped on a glass of refreshing coconut water?

Coconut water was used in the 2nd World War as a blood substitute when blood plasma was low.  Believe it! It’s colony of liquid cells make it a healing liquid with living energy.  Its filled with vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes and is a great immune system enhancer.

Coconut water not only alkalizes your digestive system and aids in digestion but it is also beneficial for diabetic patients! It balances blood sugar levels because it contains an amino acid named arginine, which helps to moderate sugar absorption.

Coconut is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal;  fighting yeast overgrowth!  So drink up if your fighting a cold or bug!  Additionally, it can also lessen eczema and balance hormones.

Know any balding friends?!  Coconut water promotes hair growth!  That’s pretty amazing if you ask me.

Seven Holistic Alternatives to Flu Shots

1. Boost Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant; known for decreasing the severity of colds. Great natural vitamin C sources include kiwi, orange, apple, leafy greens, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and lemon.

2. Eat Garlic Daily

Garlic is a potent but superb way to fight off bad bacteria.  Try adding raw garlic to salad dressings, hummus and dips to give your immune system a lift!

3. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep 

Your immune system dips and susceptible to colds and flus when your low on sleep and experiencing high levels of stress. Make sure you have tools in place to help you get the best quality sleep you can.  Invest in a black out shade, wear a sleep mask, and make sure your room is free of distractions and noise.  Furthermore, sleep with your electronic devices at least five feet from you.  They can disrupt your sleep without you even knowing it.

4. Eat fresh ginger/drink fresh ginger juice

Ginger is a pain reliever and inflammation fighter!  It’s also an anti-viral agent that fights mucus build up.  Your digestive system and immune system will be happy receivers of this powerful natural antibiotic.

5. Cut out Sugar

Sugar weakens your immune system and also causes inflammation in the body.  Inflammation leads to digestive troubles and a host of other diseases.

6. Manage Your Stress

Stress can take such a big toll on our bodies and our minds.  Reduce or eliminate it by taking a walk, meditating, exercising or listening to relaxing music.

7. Gargle with Salt Water

Gargling with salt water twice daily can help you fight off germs, viruses and the stomach bug.

Garlic Doesn’t Only Keep the Vampires Away!

Garlic has long been praised as being healthy, but few people know what this food can truly do for your body besides boost immunity.  (And that’s a huge benefit right there!)

Did you know garlic can help with respiratory problems, allergies, toothaches and warts?  Did you know it fights athlete’s foot, boosts energy levels, supports digestion and fights diabetes?  Amazing!  What about the fact that it stabilizes blood sugar, blood cholesterol, increases the absorption of iron and zinc and is filled with antioxidants?  Sounds too good to be true, right?  It’s not!

Garlic is the forgotten Super-food!  Roast some garlic and throw it on your salad, in your rice or in a wrap tonight!

What’s the worst food EVER for your body?

If you were to ask me this question a few years ago my answer simply would have been, ” a donut.”  Donuts are loaded with carbs, trans fats and tons of sugar! I always felt like there was a brick in my stomach after eating one!  As bad as donuts are, that is not the answer.

The worst thing we can feed our body is in almost everyone’s kitchen.  It’s in almost every packaged food product.  We use it to cook with.  We use it to bake with.  It gets used every single day.  How scary is that?

So what is it??

Answer:  Vegetable Oil!   (Margarine is just as bad too, it’s made from these oils) 

Vegetable Oil is one of the most chemically altered foods in our diet; it’s made up of four different genetically modified seeds!  It was non-existent in the American diet until the early 1900s when new chemical processes allowed oils from seeds to be extracted.  Vegetable oil doesn’t separate naturally.  It’s very toxic and destroys our arteries; yet it’s called “Vegetable Oil” so many people think it is healthy.

Vegetable oils contain very high levels of polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs). Polyunsaturated fats are highly unstable and oxidize easily. Inflammation and mutation in cells occurs from oxidized fats. That oxidation is linked to all sorts of issues from cancer, heart disease, endrometriosis, and PCOS.  That is not good news.

Throw your Vegetable Oil and Margarine Out!

Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Coconut Oil instead!

Olive oil is linked to longevity and can help your heart.  It’s full of polyphenols, a type of antioxidant that helps protect your cells. Your bones, digestive system, and brain also benefit from Olive oil.  Coconut oil is loaded with antioxidants, boosts immunity, relieves stress, benefits digestion and heart health, and is even good for you skin and hair!  Don’t eat processed or artificial food.  It’s terrible for your body!  Stick to a cleaner diet, and consumer foods that can be eaten in their original forms like apples and yams.
